形態特徵

• Perennial herb; stems creeping or prostrate at base, ascending, slender, 20-50 cm long, slightly hairy.
• Leaves opposite, sessile, linear to linear-oblanceolate, 3.5-4 cm long. 3-4 mm wide, acute at apex, attenuate at base, aristate-pilose above, glabrous beneath, margins remotely ciliate, lustrous and green above, pale green beneath, midrib slightly sulcate above, elevated beneath, the lateral veins inconspicuous.
• Flowers rather many, small, white, in terminal lax cymes; pedicels slender, 1-2 cm long, viscose-pilose; sepals 5, ovate-oblong, obtuse at apex, entire, hairy without, margins ciliate; petals 5, linear-spatulate, 3.5 mm long, 0.5-0.6 mm wide, rounded at apex, attenuate at base; stamens 5, filaments free, slender, 3-4 mm long, glabrous; ovary ovoid, 1.5-2 mm long, glabrous, styles 4-5, hairy apically.
• Capsules cylindric-globose, 3.5-4 mm long, 2-2.5 mm wide, truncate at apex, ob-tuse at base, 8-10-toothed, the teeth obtuse, erect; seeds oblong-globose, slightly complanate, 1 mm long.
• Generally, the genus <i>Arenaria</i> has entire petals, and the genus <i>Cerastium</i> usually has bifid or emarginate petals. According to the original description and from observations of many specimens and living plants, it is desirable to follow Ohwi's treatment to transfer <i>Cerastium subpilosum</i> to <i>Arenaria</i> as <i>A. subpilosa</i>.

• 台灣 : high elevations (3,000-3,900 m) throughout the island. On rocks.
